Brewery: Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Style: American India Pale Ale ABV: 6.0% Country of Origin: United States Region: Milton, Delaware

Appearance: 60 pours a warm golden orange and is topped by a bright white head, which dissipates quickly, leaving minimal lacing. Smell: The hop aroma is very strong, with a pronounced citrus bouquet up front fading into more subdued floral notes in the background. The hops smell is balanced by the soft, rich malt undertones. Taste: This beer tastes big, much bigger than it is-nearly possessing the character of an imperial IPA. The malt sweetness is strongly pronounced and has a light caramel character to it. The bitterness balances it nicely, but the hop oils linger on the tongue and contribute to a lasting bitterness that doesn't finish cleanly. Mouthfeel: The body is full and silky without being overly heavy. The carbonation is mild and contributes little to the overall mouth feel. Drinkability: This is a big beer. Despite a respectable 6.0% ABV and 60 IBU it is subtlety stronger than labeled. It would go well with foods of equally strong flavor, like curries (this is an India Pale Ale after all) and foods in heavy cream sauces (white chowders, chicken fried steak, etc.). It easily overpowers most other dishes. 60 is not really a session ale, but more a way to begin the evening - a middle rung on the bitterness ladder to climb down from over the course of your rounds at the pub.

Overall Grade: B+
