    Just two days after its 72-67 victory over Central Connecticut State University, The Providence College Men’s Basketball team headed down to Virginia to take on the University of Richmond. The Friars escaped with the narrowest of victories at the Robins Center, defeating the Spiders 57-56 on a free throw by senior guard Sheiku Kabba with less than one second to play.

    The Providence College Men’s Basketball team used a tough defense and an 18-2 run in the first five minutes of the second half to defeat Hofstra University, 69-56 in its season opener Saturday night at the Dunkin Donuts Center. After going into halftime ahead by only five points, the Friars came out in the second half and, ignited by a three-pointer by senior guard Sheiku Kabba with 18:47 left on the clock, hit six three pointers to take a 21 point lead, 45-24, with just under 14 minutes to play.
