Hospitals should be careful about whom they grant visitation. Many cases involve patients being in critical condition, on the brink of life and death. Obviously, during these times, no one should be able to visit the patient. Having close friends or family members around the patient introduces strong emotion into the environment. This emotion takes away from the controlled and rational setting of a hospital.Under certain circumstances, family members are allowed to visit patients. However, homosexual couples aren’t legally recognized as spouses since they cannot legally get married in most states. It logically follows that they cannot be granted visitation rights allotted to legal family members. If homosexual couples are granted this right, where will the line be drawn? Exceptions to laws
