Hey Cowl readers, happy fifth week of classes! Or, as I keep reminding myself, the last time I will be in the fifth week of my fall semester at Providence College ever. And I know that sounds way too specific a situation to be sad over, but during everything I have done lately, I have had a voice in the back of my head whispering, “Only a few months left of this.” For some things, I am more than happy to be rid of come May: the walk up to Harkins third floor, seeing Joe’s every day, and the horrible desks in Feinstein. But for the most part, everything is making me sentimental. I am currently writing my last first paper of the year (in case anyone is wondering, it is about how religious and familial guilt were used to encourage temperance in the early 19th century). Not something you would think would be sentimental, but here we are. I am also now finishing decorating my own bedroom off-campus; I never thought I would escape the communal bathrooms and extremely small triples. The time that felt so far away my freshman year is finally here.
There are obviously things to be excited for. Right now my friends and I are picking out our Senior Ring Weekend dresses and planning for Halloween (I am open to any costume ideas, please email editor@thecowl.com). And I am really excited to see where we all end up after graduation. As sad as it is that I might not live with my friends again, I could not be prouder. We have all changed and grown up so much since we first got to PC, and soon we will be in different cities, with different jobs, in different places in life. Each one of us will be following our dreams and carrying with us the memories we made together. I am so grateful that PC gave me my best friends and I am beyond excited for this year together. I love you girls, and thanks for making this place home.
To end on a lighter note, I will list some things that are currently on my mind. I just started watching Hacks on HBO, I just put a new poster on my wall, I finally watered the plant in my room, I still love to jump on my trampoline, and I got a new skirt at Salvation Army. I promise I won’t be so existential next time. CYA!
