Symphony of Angels

lofty is the angel fluttering about my frozen figure. savior as a vulture saves the dead from decay. tears glued to my hardly opened eyes freeze, hold me still. blurred is my perception of being; spinning is the compass of my soul.

a sudden apparition, merciful sweetness stoops down to melt my heart. to me, not entirely unknown. for once, then, something. hot tears baptize frosted limbs; i am liberated. i am permitted.

cold and biblical, the initial seraphim wears a countenance that proves overbearing to my vulgar mortal gaze.

caught in the powerful pretense of promise, i feel the cold certainty glinting from the bars of my gilded cage. silver, the taste of blood overwhelms my mouth.

i stumble to a glide, light brighter than the slow dying sunset. animated by warmth, my wings beat in exhilaration, and though they melt as i fall, i drop absolved into the arms of my greatest love.
