Nov102023DEADLINES

by Claire Crowther '27 on November 10, 2023

We’re told that we have time to make these things,

so stress is light, and we relax for hours.

Through days and weeks, procrastination brings

a struggle that we not yet know is ours.

Far off those deadlines did seem for awhile,

but swiftly they approached our aimless plans

and soon we realize and no longer smile,

because the future still lies in our hands.

We scramble, hurry, work all day and night

as the clock ticks and the due dates still loom.

In fear of failure, with all of our might,

we toil so we avoid impending doom.

Through our swift efforts, deadlines will be made.

We’re left to wonder why we ever strayed.
