Some Style Tips and Inspiration to Fuel Your Fall 2022 Style

Happy fall, Friartown! Along with crisp weather, pumpkins, Halloween, colorful leaves, and seasonal treats, the season prompts trading in tank tops and shorts for a new wardrobe. This entire year has been filled with returning trends, such as button-down shirts, the implementation of basics and layering, tennis dresses, and preppy styles, but fall is also bringing in unique and stylish trends. Here are just a few:

Statement leather: This ongoing trend with leather pieces is going to continue into this fall, as it is an easy material to make you look put together and sophisticated Net-A-Porter, an Italian online retailer for fashion notes how leather used to be associated with “punkish outerwear,” such as jackets often pictured in movies. Now, we see leather being used in shirts, pants, skirts, and even dresses. Pair leather pants with mini boots, a sweater, or a plain top to look put-together and polished around campus.

Blazers: Seen worn a lot by celebrities, such as Hailey Bieber, blazers were once the epitome of business attire. Now, they are considered the perfect attire for running errands, going out to dinner, or even for class if you want to feel chic. With plenty of materials and colors, such as linen, leather, plaid, or neutrals, you can style it with a variety of bottoms and jewelry to dress up or down. The variety of blazers is a drawing point for many styles.

Faux fur: Faux fur comes in plenty of forms, such as coats, bags, and vests.  Glory Trend’s website notes that faux fur is especially appealing because it is “created without causing harm to wildlife.” This season, find faux fur especially prominent in jackets.

Hot pink: Refinery29, an entertainment and digital media website for women, describes hot pink as the “Color of the Year.” Seen throughout 2022, it will come strong into autumn, regardless of if it is typical or not. Blazers, shoes, sweaters, jewelry, all of it will come in hot pink!

Statement boots: Boots of all sorts are always a fall staple, but this year going for a statement piece is in. Edgy combat/leather boots, cowboy boots, platform boots, and knee-high boots are a few staples you should have in your closet.

Birkenstock Boston: The Birkenstock Boston Clog has stood the test of time and is coming back in fall 2022. They are neutral for a bunch of styles, comfortable, and easy to wear. Pair these with casual or dressy looks for a versatile look.

Though these are just a few options to add to your fall 2022 style. There are plenty of options out there, so keep in mind that style is versatile.

“We Never Go Out of Style”

Fall Fashion Trends That Never Miss

Riley Coyne ’24

Fashion trends tend to fluctuate often, with new styles developing as quickly as the seasons change. One thing, however, remains constant: fall is always an exciting season for fashion trends. Indeed, the autumn weather being a happy medium between blazing hot and freezing cold allows for some leeway in what people decide to wear. Here are some timeless fall fashion trends that, as Taylor Swift would say, will never go out of style.

Flannels and plaid print will always be a fundamental part of the fall season everyone knows and loves. Flannels serve as the perfect casual look, and one can even throw on a beanie if their ears get cold, because: Who doesn’t love a good beanie and flannel duo? Plaid can also serve to be more lavish. For instance, plaid jackets or blouses are perfect to throw on for an event that requires more formal attire.

Next is the staple leather jacket that transitions the wearer from fall into winter. The wealthy will invest in jackets that cost upwards of millions of dollars; college students will buy theirs from affordable sources such as Forever 21. Leather pants are also a great asset to have in one’s closet.

Another timeless fall jacket is the classic trench coat. GQ advises, “The best of this season’s trenches can be found at Louis Vuitton, where Virgil Abloh showed his extra-oversized Dries Van Noten and Fendi. Though if in doubt, head to Burberry and be done with it.” While trench coats tend to be more on the expensive side, there are still affordable options out there for those who do not have the budget to rock Fendi or Burberry.

Regarding footwear, ankle boots will always be a fall classic, whether they be Dr. Martens, combat boots, or ones with a bit of a heel. The best thing about them is their versatility. Every time fall rolls around, boot lovers can bring out their booties and dress them up with a cute dress or dress them down with a pair of straight jeans.

Sweaters are a usual go-to, but there are many different ways to spice them up: sweater vests with a long sleeve tee underneath them, or perhaps a turtleneck sweater, which is another fall necessity. For those who want to feel preppy, layer a collared shirt under a sweater vest and pair it with platform shoes.

Oversized blazers may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but contrasted with a tight dress or pair of jeans and fitted shirt, they make for a stylish outfit. Celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Hailey Bieber have recently been spotted in their boxy blazers.

Whether one may be a fan of flannel or a bootie devotee, fall fashion has something for everyone.
