Field Hockey:

The Providence College field hockey team holds a 5–4 overall record and a 0–2 Big East conference record. On Sept. 22, the Friars faced the No. 9 Liberty Flames in Lynchburg, VA, losing 5–2. Lisa McNamara GS ’23 scored both goals for Providence. Their next game was played on Sept. 24 against Merrimack College where the Friars won 5–0. The team dominated the whole game only allowing two shots on goal, which resulted in Zoe Onken ’26 making her first two collegiate saves. Providence will face Old Dominion University on Sept. 29 in their next matchup.

Volleyball:

The Providence College volleyball team holds a 6–8 overall record and a 0–2 Big East conference record. The Friars played in the Boston College/Harvard Tournament on Sept. 15 and 16. Providence lost to Boston College in straight sets in their first match, followed by a 3–0 win against Merrimack and a 5-set loss against Harvard. The Friars opened up conference play at Seton Hall on Sept. 22, losing in straight sets. The next day, Providence lost to St. John’s in straight sets in Queens. The Friars’ next match is Sept. 30 against DePaul for homecoming weekend.

Men’s Soccer:

The Providence College men’s soccer team holds a 2–4–2 overall record with a 0–1–1 Big East conference record. The Friars opened up conference play at the No. 3 Akron Zips, a Big East soccer newcomer. The game ended in a 3-3 tie with Diego Batista ’26, Gevork Diarbian ’24, and Nathan Messer GS ’23 scoring for the Friars. On Sept. 19, Providence tied Brown University 1–1 with Rodrigo Vaza GS ’23 scoring at the 69th minute for the Friars. Providence faced Villanova on Sept. 23, losing 4–3 in a tough-fought match. The Friars’ next match is Sept. 29 against DePaul.

Women’s Soccer:

The Providence College women’s soccer team holds a 6–2 overall record with a 1–0 Big East conference record. On Sept. 16, the Friars lost to Columbia 1–0 on High School Soccer Night. On Sept. 21, the Friars opened Big East Conference play by beating the Seton Hall Pirates 3–1. Gillian Kenney ’25, Meg Hughes ’24, and Kyla Gallagher ’24 scored goals for the Friars against the Pirates. The Friars’ next match is Sept. 28 against the Butler Bulldogs in Indianapolis.
