Men’s Soccer:

The Providence College men’s soccer team’s overall record stands at 7–4–3 and 4–1–2 in the Big East play. On Oct. 18, Providence hosted their senior night match against the University of Connecticut where the Friars won 3–1. In this match, Nathan Messer GS ’23 opened up the scoring, followed by two goals from Brendan McSorley ’24 to secure the win. On Oct. 21, Providence had a fifth shutout in six games against Butler University. Goals were scored by McSorley, Bruno Rosa ’26 and Diego Batista ’26. This win for the Friars has qualified them for the Big East Tournament. The Friars now prepare for a last regular season matchup in New Jersey against Seton Hall University on Oct. 28. 

Women’s Soccer:

The Providence College women’s soccer team’s overall record has improved to 8–3–5. On Oct. 12, Providence broke their tie-streak when they faced Marquette University. First-year Kayla Briggs scored the lone goal assisted by Colleen Casey ’26 leading the Friars to a 1–0 victory. Providence then prepared to play No. 22 ranked Georgetown University where Hughes scored seven minutes into the game, until Georgetown struck an equalizer that tied the game 1–1. On Oct. 19, the Friars tied  Xavier University and on Oct. 22 fell short to the University of Connecticut 2–1. Up next for Providence is Villanova University on Oct. 26.

Field Hockey:
The Providence College field hockey team has an overall record of 9–6. On Oct. 13 Providence then faced University of Connecticut where they won in double-overtime. This win was made possible by first-year Florencia Talarico ’27 who scored her first career goal three minutes into the second overtime. On Oct. 15, Providence fell 1–3 to Lafayette. One match later, the Friars took on Georgetown which ended in a 4–3 victory. In this match, Celia Preveza ’25 scored the second goal of the game and Ally DeCoste ’24 who became the second Friar to record a hat trick this season. Next up for Providence is a match against cross-city rivals Brown University on Oct. 24.

Volleyball: 

The Providence College volleyball team currently holds an overall record of 8–14. On Oct.7, the Friars quickly recuperated for a game against Villanova University. In this match, Providence took a second 3–2 win where Shea Dupuis ’26 recorded 15 kills for the Friars. Game leaders also included Jiji Lykins ’25 who recorded a team-high of 11 digs, and Lyric Berry ’27 who made five blocks, all contributing to the win. As a team, the Friars recorded 10 service aces in this match. The next two games for Providence were both 0–3 losses to Butler and Xavier University. On Oct.18, the Friars suffered another loss 1–3 to the University of Connecticut. Providence then fell to No. 15 Creighton University 0–3. Up next, Providence will face Marquette University on Oct. 27.
